The annual Goodwill, one of Bermuda’s oldest golf tournaments, gets underway today with professionals and amateurs alike battling it out to win the prestigous event.

Played over the week at four of the Island’s courses, the tournament is in its 59th year and will see players compete for more than $40,000 in cash and prizes.

The men’s professional pot stands at $25,000 for the week and will be split evenly over the top five positions in the junior division, with pay-outs for the top three in the senior men’s division.

Similarly the women’s purse, which stands at $3,500, will be spilt between the top three finishers.

Today’s first round will be a shotgun start, with Mid Ocean, Port Royal, Belmont Hills and Riddell’s Bay all playing host.

Wednesday will be a rest day, although it will also serve as a rain day.

The final round will take place on Friday.

The Blackpool Club are the defending net champions while Carnegie Abbey Golf Club were last year’s gross division champions.
