Angry with Senator

May 3, 2012Dear Sir,I use to have a lot of respect for Senator Michael Dunkley, even when he was in the governing party. Now that he is in the Senate as Opposition, I am angry at him and I hope he remains in opposition for the rest of his polictricking days.He has been making quite a number of political statements about citizens of this Island, especially Ianthia Simmons-Wade. l was very pleased to hear that Ms Wade was selected to be a local consultant for the Ministry of Culture Affairs, and the Ministry of Health. She deserves the money she is being paid because the money would stay in this Island and we all will benefit. She is very knowledgeable and knows what the seniors and the disabled need that is why she was hired as a local consultant.Mr Dunkley, in your interview with ZBM, you mentioned Summerhaven as a rest home. I found that insulting because it is a home for independent living for the disabled. You also mentioned Ms Wade being accused of mismanagement of funds at Summerhaven. I was angered even more because that had nothing to do with her being a consultant. Just to set the record straight, when Ms Wade was administrator of Summerhaven, the chairman Mr John Powell and the Board hired a chartered accountant to bring the books up to date. The accountant was paid and it was proven that she was innocent of the misuse of the funds. The chairman and the Board were not satisfied with the result. The Auditor General was called in and reported that there was nothing wrong. A board of inquiry was ordered and found Ms Wade innocent of all charges. The Summerhaven board was ordered to pay her a resolution out of Summerhaven funds.Minister Zane DeSilva called for Sen Dunkley to apologise to Ms Wade and I support him 100%. I have found Ms Wade to be a very strong woman, because if it happened to me I would have sued the Board for defamation of character.W S FOXSmith’s
