Started four years ago, the tournament this year has attracted 64 players locals, as well as those from New York, New England, Boston, Arizona and Canada

And that entry includes former world number 29 and Canadian champion Runa Reta who is seeded number one in the ladies’ event.

She’ll be up against international players Wendy Ansdell from Boston and Kristi Maroc from New York and Bermuda’s own Laura Robinson and Susie Lacy.

Christina Lenahan from New York tops the Ladies’ B draw while Lauri Sklar, also from New York, is seeded to win the Ladies’ C Division.

Eight players will contest the men’s A event with Bermuda’s Nick Kyme, once ranked 64 in the world, coming up against current Bermuda national champion Patrick Foster, Bermuda Squash Racquets Association champion Thomas Sherratt as well as last month’s RUBiS Open tournament winner, 17-year-old D’Vario Thompson.

The B and C 16-man draws are headed by Andy McComb and Corporate Games winner Malcolm Woodley respectively.

Local and visiting players will all be battling to earn points for their nominated city in the overall team event.

The event begins on November 15, running until November 17 at the BSRA Squash Club in Devonshire.

The tournament is deliberately scheduled as the same time as the World Rugby Classic in order that overseas players can also watch that international event.

BSRA Director of Squash, Foster, said “ We are thrilled to have attracted so many international players and that this event with the kind support from Bermuda Tourism continues to grow year after year.”

Play starts at 6pm next Thursday, 3pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday. Admission is free.
