Road To Rio 2016 Just Got Real!!!”Evans, who is currently preparing for the CAC Senior Games in Mexico, told The Royal Gazette: “I'm in Mexico for the CAC Games right now and then heading over to Belgium for two races.“It's not really much I want to say about (Nike Oregon) this right now as I’m still learning more, but in the following weeks to come I will know more this is the real deal. The Rio 2016 hopeful added: “It doesn't get any better for track and field than to be with this group.“I just e-mailed the athletic director at University of Oregon who is on the board for Olympic Track Committee.”Young Bermuda athlete Dage Minors has claimed The Caledonian Record newspaper’s Male Athlete of the Year after some sterling performances on the track for St Johnsbury Academy. The accolade adds to the Vermont State Track Athlete of the Year award he picked up earlier this year.On his way to claiming the top prize, Minors won four events in his final state track and field championship last month, claiming victory in the 1,500, 800, 400 and 4x400 metres relay.Despite his success, Minors, who will attend Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire in the autumn, believes there’s plenty still to come from him.“The award means a lot to the school because I'm an international student, and my career has been all right in terms of awards, but I wish my times could have been a little faster,” he said.“Any award that I get is always humbling.”Minors received $4,707 from the Department of Youth Sports and Recreation in May to refine his technique at an Amsterdam training facility selected by the Bermuda National Athletics Association. He also won this year’s KPMG High School Male Front Street Mile in January, and represented Bermuda at this year’s Carifta Games.
