A new player in the health and fitness business yesterday opened its doors.

Horizon Health focuses on physical exercise but also provides lifestyle and nutrition counselling, as well as offering Reik, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation, and crystal healing.

Owner Caroline Tee said: “I wanted to open a health centre that offers everything the health market can offer to help you reach your goals all under one roof.

“The centre will help people to regain control of their health or go to the next level with their training.

“I look forward to helping others who wish to reach their goals and welcome anyone to come and have a look and to ask questions or to stop by for an organic smoothie.”

Horizon Health, based on the ground floor of Magnolia Place on Hamilton’s Victoria Street, also specialises in corrective exercise, functional training, body mapping and pain reduction.

The company also runs private and group classes in barre, pilates mat, yoga and high intensity interval training.

Personal classes are offered in functional training, barre, pilates, yoga and nutritional counselling.

Ms Tee, who has 11 years experience in the health and fitness business and is a qualified corrective, holistic, exercise and kinesiology (CHEK) practitioner.

CHEK lifestyle coaching looks at wider health and fitness areas, including digestion, fungal infections, parasites and stomach bacteria, as well as areas like ulcers, hormone imbalances and sexual dysfunction.

Health and Environment Minister Trevor Moniz, who helped open the business yesterday, said: “The benefits of physical activity are numerous and undeniable.

“Physical activity is an essential component of maintaining good physical and mental health. In combination with healthy eating, it can help prevent a range of chronic diseases, including heart disease and stroke, which are leading causes of death on the Island.”

He added: “I wish to to applaud Horizon Health founder Caroline Tee for having such a deep passion for the wellness of others.”

Some free classes are available in areas like functional circuit training, high intensity interval training, barre and pilates during January and special offers are available on private pilates and personal function training lessons.

The new centre will also feature an organic cafe, serving breakfast, lunch and healthy snacks daily.
