Regular hours resume at Marsh Folly

Marsh Folly

Regular opening hours have resumed at the Marsh Folly composting facility.

Residents can access the site from 7.30am until noon tomorrow and from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 4pm, although staff close for lunch between noon and 1pm.

“It is particularly important for the public to note these operating hours,” said a spokeswoman for the waste management section of the Ministry of Public Works.

“To reduce the risk of fire at the site, Marsh Folly must comply with the regulations imposed by the Bermuda Fire Service that limit the volume of unmilled material the composting site can have at any given time.

“Due to the amount of horticultural waste from back-to-back storms, staff have been working for extended hours to reduce these piles by milling into smaller materials.

“Landscaping and trucking companies are asked to comply with the regular operating hours and allow the composting staff to mill materials after non-opening hours without disturbance.”

There will be no tipping fee at Marsh Folly until further notice to assist the public with post storm clean-up.

Government is also looking for suitable sites in the eastern and western parishes to assist with handling the high volume of horticultural waste.
