Game On relaunches as Bermudiana Bar & Lounge

New vibe: veteran bartender Alexis Hall has launched Bermudiana Bar & Lounge (Photograph supplied)

When Alexis Hall was offered part-ownership of the Game On Sports Bar & Grill she was excited.

Ms Hall had been running the Hamilton watering hole for the last year, having worked there since 2023.

She had just one condition.

“I wanted to rebrand, rename and change it up a bit,” Ms Hall said.

She launched the Bermudiana Bar & Lounge two weeks ago at 12 Bermudiana Road.

There are still arcade games upstairs for youngsters, but there is also darts and pool for the adults and a heavier lounge vibe.

“People can come in, listen to music, converse and have cocktails,” Ms Hall said. “There are still televisions for watching sports, but it is not a pure games and sports bar.”

Getting all the televisions working and in sync was a huge challenge.

“We didn’t know that it would be so complicated,” she said. “We had a tech come in and sort out the point-of-sales systems, televisions and Wi‑Fi. Each TV literally shows a different thing and controls other TVs upstairs.”

She spent two months refurbishing the place, doing much of the work herself.

“I did all the painting and reupholstered all the furniture,” she said. “I used to paint roofs and houses, so it was pretty basic to me. At another job, I refurbished furniture. It took all my talents to bring this together.”

Ms Hall has a long history in catering and drink service.

“I was working in bars since I was 18,” she said. “From the moment it was legal, I was there.”

Her first bartending job was at Gombey’s, a beach bar at Clearwater Beach in St David’s.

“I had a really good teacher,” she said. “He said if I wanted to bartend, come down and let’s go. That is where it all started.”

Since opening, business has been steady, particularly during World Cup games. The bar was full during the Norway-England game.

“I think we had one or two England fans,” she said. “The rest were for Norway. That was a fun night.”

The Bermudiana Bar & Lounge has linked up with Kebobs on the Curve to provide customers with food.

“They are now Kebobs in the City,” Ms Hall said.

She has a full cocktail menu on offer that uses fresh ingredients.

The Bermudiana Bar & Lounge is open Tuesday to Thursday, from 11am to midnight, and Friday and Saturday, from 11am until 2am or 3am, depending on the crowd and events going on.
