An award-winning music documentary and a love triangle starring the legendary Catherine Deneuve will both screen at BUEI this weekend.

The Wrecking Crew tells the story of a group of studio musicians who played on almost every hit record in the 1960s and 1970s.

It’s won ten international festival awards and includes interviews with Brian Wilson, Nancy Sinatra, Herb Alpert, Dick Clark, Leon Russell and Gary Lewis, who were all part of the group.

They often replaced actual band members in the recording studio and for six consecutive years, recorded the Grammy Award’s Record of the Year.

“Music lovers will adore this film, and so will musicians for the behind-the-scenes look at how a band of studio musicians had such an incredible influence on popular music,” said event organiser Duncan Hall.

Catherine Deneuve performs with her real-life daughter Chiara Mastroianni in the “touching and tense drama” 3Hearts.

“One night in provincial France, Marc (played by Benoît Poelvoorde) meets Sylvie (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg) and they fall madly in love,” said Mr Hall. “They agree to meet by a fountain in Paris, but fate conspires against them and sends each in a separate direction.

“Sylvie reunites with her ex and leaves France; Marc falls in love and marries. What neither knows is that Marc’s new bride is Sylvie’s sister, Sophie (Mastroianni). Upon Sylvie’s return to France, the spark between her and Marc is reignited in ways that will forever alter the relationships between sister and sister and husband and wife.”

The Wrecking Crew will show at 3pm; 3Hearts follows at 5.15pm.

Tickets are on sale now at the Oceans Gift Shop or by calling 294-0204. Trailers of the films can be viewed at www.bermudadocs.com.
