Strength in numbers on World Math Day

Saltus Upper Primary S4

Saltus 4S shows math is everywhere!

Saltus Upper Primary 4S had the perfect assembly for World Math Day. They shared their love for math with a fun rap on fractions, a funny One Direction song and a human graph complete with x-axis and y-axis. There was an appearance by Count Mathula who shared his concerns about how boring math is, but then realised it was pretty cool and that you can use an audience to create questions on Mean, Median and Mode. They also showed that there are infinite ways of finding four as an answer:

• How many vowels in the word “adjective”?

• 2+2, 36÷9, 480-476, 1.36+2.64, 1,000÷250, -3+7, 2x2, 120÷30, ¼ of 16, and 50 per cent of 8.

• How many corners in a square?

• How many quarters in a dollar?

• 1234123_: what is the next number in the pattern?

• How many right angles in a 360-degree rotation?

• How many year groups in Upper Primary?

• Simone had one soda every 30 minutes and the movie was two hours long. How many sodas did she drink?

• How many ounces in half a cup?

• How many suits are there in a deck of cards?

• What is 3.5 hours after 12.30pm?

• How many cups in a quart?
