Tourist hurt in road crash ‘stable’

A male tourist injured when his rental cycle collided with a car is now recovering in a general ward at hospital, according to police. This morning, he was said to be in a stable condition.

The 35-year-old’s pillion passenger, another male visitor, was also taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for less serious injuries and later discharged.

The accident happened at 3.15pm on Monday on Middle Road, Southampton, near the junction with Scenic Heights Pass.
