My America’s Cup experience

Wind in their sails: Harrington Sound Primary students share their America’s Cup experiences

On Sunday afternoon in Hamilton car park the America’s Cup racers put on an event where everyone who came could see them race on a giant screen.

I was at the event with my nana, my dad, and my older sister, who is amazing even though we might have some arguments.

As the teams were racing I could see that Team Oracle USA was having some trouble with the control but overall the show was outstanding and they had great footage.

The big screen felt like you were right in the middle of the action.

The America’s Cup had thought of everything to make an enjoyable experience. There was something for everyone — food stands, fun castles and stores.

What I found really cool was that they made an America’s Cup store out of a container box.

I am rooting for Team Oracle USA because I would like to cheer on a place where my dad is from.

During the break time, dancers from In Motion School of Dance did a sailor dance. It was really cool and the music was on point.

In the end the boats lined up in a row by the harbour to show them to everyone. I had a great weekend and I thank my dad for taking me.

I look forward to the next races now I know more about the tactics.
