Let’s go back to the old days of Sir John Sharpe — Minister of Finance — riding around on official government business on his Mobylette. Sir David Gibbons using his own car for government business. And Bermuda was not $3 billion in debt.

Where is the Accountant-General or the Auditor-General? The Premier, all ministers and civil servants, when travelling should be allowed so much a night for travelling, so much for a night for lodging, transportation, food, entertainment. Where are these limitations? Produce receipts when returning.

I guarantee these limitations are not in place. Irresponsible politicians are enjoying luxury travel at the taxpayers’ expense. No wonder we are $3 billion in debt. Where are the lotteries? Bermuda could have its own Bermuda Onion Lottery run by Megabucks, with a $5 entry fee, 10 per cent goes to Government, 5 per cent to Megabucks, and open it up to the world.

The money can be managed by KPMG and audited by Deloitte and used to pay down the debt. The Bermuda Triangle Lottery could be run by Powerball the same way. Wake up, Bermuda, the debt would be paid off in no time, the streets paved with gold, all Bermudians living a luxurious life. The island is asleep at the wheel.
