BF&M gains, Butterfield and Ascendant fall

Two stocks fell and one gained in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.BF&M Ltd was the only issue to advance, The insurer climbed ten cents, or 0.6 per cent, to close on $18 as 1,015 shares changed hands.Ascendant Group Ltd suffered the sharpest fall, dipping $1.95, or 5.9 per cent, to close on $31.05 as 500 shares were traded.Butterfield Bank was the most heavily traded issue, slipping 30 cents, or 1.2 per cent, to close on $24.70 as 10,200 shares traded.Butterfield’s US-listed shares moved in the opposite direction, surging $1.30, or 5.37 per cent, to close on $25.50 on the New York Stock Exchange, on higher-than-normal volume of 329,978 shares.The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 31.53 points, or 1.7 per cent, to close on 1,825.75. The BSX Insurance Index gained 22.59 points, or 1.61 per cent, to close on 1,421.56.
