Jailed for drinking chocolate milk

A homeless woman was jailed for ten days after she stole a carton of chocolate milk.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Trimiea Roland, 30, was seen walking into Hamilton MarketPlace at around 12.30pm on Tuesday.

She then went to the store, opened a carton of chocolate milk and began to drink it.

Roland then left the store and was confronted by staff.

She was arrested and, when questioned, told police: “You can tell it to someone else. I don’t care.”

The court heard she has a long list of previous convictions.

Roland pleaded guilty to the offence, and was sentenced to ten days in prison by magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo.
