Man charged with demanding money from woman

A man was charged in Magistrates’ Court yesterday with making a series of “menacing” demands for money from a woman.Jahmeco Blakeney, 40, was accused of making unlawful demands for money from Paulette Godfrey on June 2 and demands with menace on June 6 and 7.He was also charged with obtaining money from Ms Godfrey by deception on May 29.Blakeney, from Southampton, was not required to enter a plea because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo adjourned the case until July 1 and released Mr Blakeney on $4,000 bail on the condition that he report to Hamilton Police Station three times a week.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
