A driver who used his car to strike a police officer, causing minor injuries, is now being sought by authorities.

The man was driving at about 6.35pm when police ordered the vehicle to pull over at the junction of Highwood Lane and Lover’s Lane, in Paget.

A police spokesman said the suspect abruptly reversed, knocking down an officer, before reversing down the one-way road, striking another car and then hitting two residential walls.

The area is now being searched after the man abandoned his car and escaped on foot.

“The man is described as a brown-complexioned male short haircut, slim build, 5ft 8in, wearing a black T-shirt and dark-coloured pants,” the spokesman said.
