Dear Sir,

This is a message of thanks to so many people. For a brief moment, on February 27, my wife and I contemplated life without our four-year-old son, Ashton, after his collision with a truck outside our home.

Today, March 10, on the first day after his discharge from hospital, Ashton is bouncing around the house as if nothing ever happened; meanwhile, we take stock of our good fortune and the incredible support we have received.

Thanks to the doctors, nurses and fantastic staff at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, we are so lucky to have you. Thanks to our families, friends, neighbours, colleagues and strangers who have visited, called, sent gifts and otherwise wished us well. Never doubt the essence of human kindness, and its contribution to positive results.

We remain eternally grateful to you all.
