Dear Sir,

I wish to express my love for this paradise island called Bermuda and its people.

My name is Paul Vlachos, of a Greek-Canadian origin, who had the good fortune to live and work on the island in the hospitality industry at Sonesta Beach Hotel from 1977 to 1990.

These years were the best of my life, filled with so many unforgettable memories.

Your pink sandy beaches, turquoise waters and the aroma of so many flowers are not the only attractions of the island.

I applaud all Bermudians who are passionate, friendly and hospitable people.

Your public transport makes your tourists welcomed and ensures a safe and memorable holiday.

I owe this life of mine to the Bermudian people. On July 30, 1983, a boating accident almost claimed my life. Because of the tireless efforts of your people to rescue me, I am in this life today and for ever will be beholden to your people. After 27 years, I recently had the opportunity to visit the island with my daughter, Constantina, who took part in the open-water swim competition. She also felt the love for the island and hopes to be a part of this annual event.

I would like to thank Sabrina Kirby, manager of the Bermuda Connections Apartments, where I stayed during my visit for organising a reunion with my good friends and colleagues.

I would like to thank as well The Royal Gazette for publishing the article of my return to the island and this surprise reunion.

A special thanks to the Green family for giving me permission to visit what once was the Sonesta Beach Hotel. I must say this was a very emotional moment for me.

I am humbled and honoured, and look forward to my next visit.

I would be very happy to stay connected and if anyone wishes to get in touch, they may contact me at constantinavlachou@gmail.com.
