We must overhaul our system
When a government is elected to power, it is expected to govern and work for, not just those that put it in power, but those that did not, as well.
It must do this even if for the sole self-serving reason as to convince those who did not vote for them, to do so in the future and maintain power.
The Progressive Labour Party electing to not hold a Throne Speech, but rather, deciding to have its plans for the year revealed at a party convention, is the exact opposite. Its weak defence that it can be watched on television is unacceptable.
So people that are not PLP members must go to their event to be a part of this? Are they going to allow everyone for free? Are not their conventions usually requiring membership and fees to be paid?
Let us be frank here. This is also a swipe at the Crown, and as per usual, a veiled jab for independence.
As always, the PLP wishes to break away from the monarchy, in order to have Bermuda ruled by its green oligarchy.
When will people on this island realise we threw off the yoke of the United Bermuda Party oligarchs, only to be saddled with that of the “green machine”.
For a party that preaches to be for the people so much and so anti-UBP and such ... it has a funny way of acting the same way, and ostracising many.
Bermuda needs an overhaul of the way we govern. Our government and Civil Service are bloated and the fat needs trimming. Bermudians need to push for better equality and proper representation.
The days of elitists controlling the island, regardless of what party, needs to end.
