Retirement seminar to be held next week

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce will host a seminar breakfast aimed at helping people plan for retirement next week.

The Retirement Planning Educational Breakfast Seminar, to be held on-site in the Chamber boardroom, will feature three discussion panels on the topics of health and wellness, financial management and personal development.

Kendaree Burgess, executive director at the Chamber, said: “With Bermuda’s aging population we thought it most appropriate to shed light on the topic of retirement. People should take active steps to secure a comfortable future, the first being to assess needs and resources available.

“Keeping with this, we are delighted that representatives from the Bermuda Heart Foundation, BF&M, the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Butterfield Bank, Sunshine Healing and the Olderhood Group will be on hand to discuss issues surrounding the transition from the workplace to retirement.”

Bill Storie, chief executive of the Olderhood Group, added: “Most people plan more for a two-week vacation than they do for their retirement life; we will be addressing all of the issues that people neglect to consider when they think about retirement planning.”

The event will take place between 8am and 10am on Thursday, October 27. Tickets are $20 for Chamber members and $35 for non-members and can be purchased from the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.
