Data scientist joins Envelop Risk in England
Bermudian data scientist Emmanuel Smith has joined the technology team of insurtech company Envelop Risk, at its UK office.
It is expected that Mr Smith will lead several important projects at the firm, a global specialist reinsurance managing general agency with a focus on artificial intelligence-driven cyber-risk modelling.
Mr Smith said: “I joined Envelop because our approach towards quantifying risk enables me to perform invaluable work in areas that matter; not just to me, but to our island, and humanity at large.”
Envelop risk has a presence in Bermuda as well as in Bristol, England. Ari Chatterjee, the chief underwriting officer at Bristol-based Envelop Risk Analytics, said Mr Smith was a future technology leader. “His generation holds the key to the future for Bermuda. We welcome him to Envelop,” he added.
Mr Smith is pursuing a PhD in artificial intelligence at the University of the West of England.
He earlier earned a master’s degree in machine learning, high performance computing, and data mining at Bristol University.
