Bermuda Day Half-Marathon gets social
The Bermuda Day Half-Marathon Derby committee has launched its social media pages to keep participants and spectators up to date with all of the latest information, as well as helpful training tips, stories from past and current participants, and facts about this historic, community race.
This year’s Half-Marathon will take place at 9am on Friday, May 25, marking the start of a new era, as Bermuda Day will now fall on the last Friday of May every year. David Burt, the Premier, will serve as the official starter and registration will open on Monday.
“The race will be renamed the ‘Bermuda Day Half-Marathon Derby’ in honour of Bermuda Day,” Dr Gina Tucker, the Derby committee president, said. “A new sponsorship model has also been adopted with multiple sponsors. In addition to our longstanding sponsors, Appleby and Pure Water, several other sponsors including Ascendant Technologies Ltd, People’s Pharmacy, Alternative Concrete Solutions, Cold Fusion Air Conditioning, BGA/FITAID and Estera Management Services, have joined the Derby platform. We are especially pleased that Appleby, who have sponsored the race for 14 years — five as title sponsor — will be sponsoring the prize giving this year.
“We look forward to welcoming both the participants and spectators to the 2018 Derby, which is sure to be another huge success because of each of you, our sponsors, our volunteers, and the Bermudian community at large. And, as with every year, we take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire community for making this year another spectacular one for the Derby.”
The race committee is also appealing for volunteers to assist with the number pick-up on May 21, as well as water stops, race marshals and more, on race day. For more information regarding volunteering, please contact them on e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Along with the website, www.bermudamarathon.bm, those interested in keeping up with updates, should also follow on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
