Teenager Leah Smith has been named female football player of the year at IMG Academy, Florida.

Smith, a winner of last year’s National Sports Award for women’s football in Bermuda, was also one of three winners of college book awards at IMG.

The college book awards are issued by college alumni to top students in their junior years of high school.

Smith received the Dartmouth book award.

She was also recognised by her school as the most valued player for her football team.
