Bermuda pay penalty against El Salvador

John Barry Nusum's side lost 1-0 to El Salvador in Florida

The Bermuda Under-15 football side suffered a 1-0 defeat against El Salvador in the Concacaf Under-15 Championships at the IMG Academy Complex in Brandenton, Florida, yesterday.

Bermuda, who drew their opening game of the competition 2-2 against Martinique on Monday, were punished for conceding a penalty which El Salvador converted.

“The boys carried out the defensive game plan perfectly and only through a mistake of our own creation did they get a penalty,” John Barry Nusum, the Bermuda coach, wrote on his Facebook page.

“Hard lessons learned but they are acquitting themselves well and we are in it with one more group match to go.”

Bermuda have been pitted against El Salvador, Martinique and Cuba in group E of Division Two, with the top team advancing to the next round. They play Cuba tomorrow.

Honduras captured the inaugural title in 2013, topping a field of 22 teams in the Cayman Islands.
