Position is a great privilege

Relishing the honour: Storm Gibbons, head girl, and Jhon Besalo, head boy

The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves. My school has assisted in instilling in me the values of a great leader to guide me in the path of success.

Being head girl of CedarBridge Academy during the twentieth anniversary is a great privilege. During such an historic and memorable year for my school, I am grateful to have the privilege of being a leader to my fellow peers.

Being head girl does not necessarily mean having the highest GPA, or being the smartest girl in school. Instead, it is the title given to the female student who has a combination of admirable qualities. These include characteristics such as dependability, honesty, commitment and a strong work ethic.

Being a leader within my school allows me to develop relationships with several students of all ages and ensure they are successful. I love being someone who students feel they can talk to and get advice from.

My enrolment at CedarBridge Academy has provided me with a fantastic education and several choices for extracurricular activities. With a large selection of AP programmes, CBA has a range of classes suitable for my career path and all of my interests. Throughout my time at CedarBridge, I have had several life-changing opportunities. I’ve travelled overseas to view prestigious universities and colleges, met renowned athletes, motivational speakers and even members of the Royal Family.

Such invaluable experiences have given me chances to network within my community, island, and on a global scale.

After graduating, I plan on going overseas to study medicine in the UK or in Canada. After gaining the experience and knowledge needed to provide care, I want to travel to developing countries to treat those who are in need of care.

I’d like to work and spend my time helping people in the future.

There are millions of people, including young children, who have little or no access to adequate healthcare. With my knowledge and passion for medicine, I wish to not only treat people who are sick, but also raise awareness for the lack of healthcare in certain parts of the world.

My years at CedarBridge Academy have been an unforgettable journey. All of my experiences and my education I have received so far will follow me into the next stages of my life.

I’m certainly looking forward to the remainder of my S4 year as head girl.
