Theresa Harney-Zuill, the manager of The Royal Palms Hotel, has been named the 2015/16 Hotelier of the Year.

The award from the Bermuda Hotel Association was formally given at an annual Christmas luncheon organised by the BHA and the Hotel Employers of Bermuda. A statement by the BHA described Mrs Harney-Zuill as being “instrumental in providing the energy, commitment, organisational and administrative skills” that have enabled the Royal Palms to be recognised internationally by Fodor’s 100 Hotel Awards.

“This is further evident through the ongoing high percentage of recent guest who return to the property on a regular basis to enjoy the exceptionally high level of service and standards which Mrs Harney-Zuill and the entire team provide to enhance their overall guest experience,” the statement continued. “This is a testament to her management skills and in considering her nomination, it was an easy decision for the committee to make in selecting her as she was the unanimous choice.”

Accepting the award, Mrs Harney-Zuill said she was humbled and honoured to receive recognition from her peers, stressing that she accepted it on behalf of the entire team at the Royal Palms.

Prior to starting work at the Royal Palms in 2006, Mrs Harney-Zuill worked at Elbow Beach Hotel and Spa.
