"The completion of this programme adds to their growing list of credentials. 21 year-old employee Shaun Adderley will also attend the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia college this autumn, to work towards the same credential." The NSCC's one-year Appliance Service Programme provides the skills and knowledge required in the appliance services trade.

Mr. Outerbridge and Mr. Smith said the programme teaches how to maintain, repair, and install electrical domestic appliances such as dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers, and air conditioning units.

The graduates were recognised by the National Training Board (NTB) who partnered with Bermuda Gas to assist the graduates in obtaining technical skills and recognized qualifications.

"The NTB values the partnership with Bermuda Gas and the Nova Scotia Community College," Michael Stowe NTB Executive Officer said: "This partnership not only affords young Bermudians the opportunity to acquire excellent technician skills it offers them long-term career employment."

The NTB establishes technical skill competency, qualification and certification standards. It also endeavours to ensure that there is an adequate supply of trained manpower.

"Bermuda Gas looks forward to continued collaboration with the NTB, working towards facilitating an on-island appliance service-training program which will provide national certification," Bermuda Gas Operations Manager Peter Killen said.
