Tuff Dogs chase double

Champions Tuff Dogs will take the first step towards bidding to complete the Evening Cricket League’s Premier Division double when they face fourth-placed Fine Leg Byes in tomorrow’s knockout semi-finals at Shelly Bay.

Tuff Dogs topped the league table with 32 points, finishing three points clear of Renegades, who will take on third-placed The Associates in the second semi-final at 2pm after the opener at 10am.

PHC stormed to the Second Division league title but saw their hopes of the second-tier double evaporate when they were crushed by 66 runs at the hands of fourth-placed Deloitte in last weekend’s knockout semi-finals.

Deloitte’s opponents in the final will be St George’s, who beat High Flyaz by 14 runs in a game reduced from 20 to 16 overs a side.

The finals will be held on September 10.

n Ryan Steede of St George’s won the Logic First Division Player of the Week award after his knock of 73 against Warwick enabled St George’s to win bonus points and keep alive their hopes of securing promotion.
