Fun, energetic ... and about to erupt

n eruption of fun and frolics is set to take place at this year?s Volcanic and BLU party. Last year party organisers Volcanic Productions and Blu Promotions threw New Year?s Eve events. Volcanic?s took place at BAA Field, while BLU Promotions collaborated with Unit? at the Square One Complex on what was its debut event. But with all of the parties last New Year?s Eve, both were successful and well-attended.

This year these two groups have come together to offer partygoers another choice in the myriad of New Year?s Eve events.

?Last year we both threw an amazing party and I felt a lot of patrons wished they could of gone to both,? said Jon Legere, of Volcanic, ?This year there won?t be that dilemma.?

BLU Promotions, production director Chris Bennett added: ?We have always wanted to work with Volcanic, we are a relatively young promotions or party throwing group. Volcanic now, and before that the Legere Brothers parties were legendary ? are legendary.

?They were our inspiration along with the Friskies (Parties). We are really happy to be working with them on this great event.?

Asked what they will bring to the the table, they said: ?Hmm.. mostly liquor. We bring it to the table and we drink it.?

But on a more serious note, he said: ?We have a lot of energy and ideas and are willing to put in the extra effort and time, which is a lot already to make our events extraordinary.?

Mr. Legere said people can expect the effort and great atmosphere that Volcanic, promoters of the Fright Night at Fort Hamilton, has worked hard to maintain.

?BLU are younger and bring a lot of energy, and they threw a great party last year,? he added.

Mr. Bennett said: ?They can expect to leave with an awesome experience, having Flookie and Home Grown together is fantastic in itself, and to have it on New Years, with four of Bermudas top DJs, with a fantastic atmosphere ? you can?t ask for more.

?I can tell you that BLU and especially Volcanic pour their heart and soul into these events to make them what they are, which are experiences. Every little detail is thought of for the comfort of our guests and friends. You would have to try extra hard to have a bad time at this party.?

Mr. Legere said that they have an excellent line up of local artists including The Home Grown Band, MC Flookie, DJ?s OB1, Chubb, The Dirkistan Freedom Fighters and vintage Reggae connoisseur Colt 45. ?There isn?t a better line up in town and its 100 percent Bermudian!

?We have some exciting drink specials playing on the union theme too ? for example a champagne cocktail called ?The BLU Lava? from Goslings.?

Home Grown is to make its return after headlining at the Bermuda

Music Festival, added Mr. Legere.

?Flookie has also told us that he will be releasing his new hot single ?Another One? at the event. If reggae doesn?t move you then there

will be plenty of other options indoors with the best local DJs.?

Mr. Bennett said this was especial as the Home Grown band members were great friends as well.

?We have been listening to them for years,? he said.

This year marks the third New Years Party at Bermuda Music and Dramatic Society and Volcanic?s sixth NYE party in a row.

?This started with a House Party in 2001 ? we definitely have the experience and have helped the Island bring in the New Year for half a decade.

?BMDS is a great central location and this year we are expanding out onto a portion of the road to overcome bottleneck issues and traffic. We also are implementing our new bar systems to make sure the dancing juice flows.?

Mr. Bennett added that there were plenty of incentives, free drinks, party favours and T-Shirts for early arrivals.

?We?d also like to stress without the support of the patrons we wouldn?t be able to throw these great events ? remember a few years back when there was nothing going on!

?People have options now and we are glad to offer the most exciting one.?

A note of warning was the final statement of Mr. Legere.

?I?d like to make a disclaimer to the public though, this party is not for uptight, boring, snobby, pretentious, thuggish, or for the racially closed-minded.

?This is a true Bermudian party for locals and foreign residents ? if you?ve ever been to a Volcanic party you will know how diverse we are.

?There?s only one requirement ... a serious pair of dancing shoes.?

Part proceeds from this event will support The Bermuda Music and Dramatic Society Foundation, which gives scholarships to those who are pursuing the arts.
