Bay accept Flatt's charity
unseat Junior Eastern Counties champions Bailey's Bay.
The challengers conceded 42 extras, over a third of the 119 they scored themselves. That left Bay captain Jamiko Marshall (40) and Desmond Crockwell (28) with a simple task to score the bulk of the remaining runs.
Marshall, voted man of the match, struck three fours and a six in his match-high innings before he was last out at 111.
Crockwell struck two boundaries before he was third out at 106. Bay started their run chase nervously as Omar Allen and Michael Jones were both run out without scoring when the total was two.
But the stability provided by Crockwell and Marshall plus the inaccuracy of the Flatts bowlers did much to soothe the champions' nerves. Flatts put down 28 wides out of the 42 charity runs. Nasir Maynard was their top bowler with two for nine from 4.2 overs.
Kamel Trott and Clevon Hill undermined the Flatts innings, which at one time was handsomely placed at 104 for four.
Trott enjoyed a fine second spell that earned him the wicket of top scorer Maurice Lowe for 31 before he ran through the tail to finish with four for 23 from four overs.
Hill (two for 15) accounted for the other chief run-getters, Wolde Place for 24 and Kevin Hurdle for 28. Niko White claimed three for 33.
Lowe, a guest player from the Western Stars youth programme, hit two fours in his top knock while Place struck two fours, and Hurdle three fours and a six.
Bay's next test will be on August 8 against St. David's.
