Sandys man denies sexual assault, threat allegations

A 40-year-old man has denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman in Pembroke three months ago.

The Sandys resident pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges of serious sexual assault in connection with an incident on April 18.

He also denied allegations that he threatened the victim, telling her: “If you call the police, I will kill you, your children and anyone close to you.”

Neither the defendant nor the complainant can be identified for legal reasons.

Puisne Judge Alan Richards ordered that the matter return to the Supreme Court on August 3 to be mentioned with a potential trial date later that month.

Mr Justice Richards also amended the defendant’s bail conditions, removing the need for a surety but requiring that he wear an electronic monitoring device.
