Keynote speech to focus on public sector

Josh Hjartarson

Josh Hjartarson, a vice-president with KPMG, will be the keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce.

He will speak on the subject of how the public sector is being transformed around the world by the converging forces of public demand for service quality and fiscal constraints.

The annual meeting is being held at the Harbourview Ballroom, in the Hamilton Princess, on April 15.

Dr Hjartarson is vice-president, public sector KPMG. He was formerly with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, where he was vice-president, policy and government relations.

He was also policy director at the Mowat Centre, where he helped build one of Canada’s most prolific and respected think tanks. He has emerged as one of Canada’s foremost thought leaders on the pressing policy challenges facing Canada and Ontario.

Kendaree Burgess, the Chamber’s executive director, noted that the topic of the keynote speech was “especially relevant for Bermuda”.

She added: “Dr Hjartarson’s choice of topic is ‘Unlocking the public sector economy: strategies for leveraging the government spend for growth’, we look forward to hosting a full house, interested members are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.”
