And RG Magazine writer Nancy Acton's June article about two of the award-winning architects was right on the money.

The article, entitled "A Sense of Proportion'', focused on the talents of Stephen West and Sanders Frith-Brown.

And Mr. Frith-Brown was honoured by the Bermuda National Trust for his dedication to promoting traditional Bermudian landscaping and architecture.

Mr. Frith-Brown, whose talents include carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and tiling, plans to beautify Bermuda through increased planting.

The Clipper Award for excellence in architecture was given to Dr. and Mrs.

Delmont Simmons for the restoration of the former slave cottage at Inwood Cottage at Stowe Hill.

The newly-created award, which is an engraved silver bowl on a cedar stand, is in memory of former Trust member Rosemary Clipper.

Stephen West, the project's architect, was awarded for his "sensitive restoration'' of the cottage.

The Trust also gave several awards for renovation and restoration of prominent buildings throughout the Island.

The restoration of Argonaut House on Park Road in the City of Hamilton was cited as an excellent example of urban renewal.

Rather than destroying the building and adding a huge modern office building, Argonaut Limited president Michael Collins decided to renovate the old building.

And Mr. and Mrs. David A. White along with architect John Warwick were honoured for restoring "Old House'' -- one of the most prominent and oldest buildings in Flatts Village.
