The house is to be levelled by the end of March, Marshall Minors of the International Airport yesterday told The Royal Gazette .

Work crews from West End Landscaping have been contracted to begin work by mid-March said Mr. Minors, who added some of the structure will be stripped of usable items and sold later at auction.

The house -- which sits on 15-foot rise of land adjacent to the runway -- has fallen victim to the Bermuda International Airport's shift from military to civilian control.

It has been identified as an obstruction to air traffic by the UK-based Civil Aviation Authority and ordered demolished; the hill is not considered an obstruction, said Acting Operations Manager at the Airport, Paul Richard.
