Matthew Oliveira continued his impressive season with a win in yesterday’s final race of the Cyclocross Series at Astwood Park.

The Winners Edge rider beat out Deshi Smith and Mark Hatherely on the energy-sapping course, that featured turns that proved too much for some of the field.

Dominique Mayho pulled out after three laps having misjudged the same downhill hairpin turn each time, sending him into and beyond the boundary tape.

In the women’s category Alyssa Rowse took the win over Tristan Narraway and Joanne Medeiros. Both Rowse and Narraway caught and passed several of the male competitors, giving them strong performances despite the small numbers in their own category.

In the under-15 race, brothers Manning and Gordon Smith finished first and third, with Ahajai Smith between them for second.
