Fairmont Hamilton Princess appoints Bermudians Stirling-Aguiar and Oliveira

New positions: Hamilton Princess Director of facilities operations Mario Oliveira and catering manager Heidi Stirling-Aguiar

After heading up engineering at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza for the past six years, Bermudian Mario Oliveira has returned to the Island to take up the post of director of facilities operations at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.The hotel also announced the appointment of another Bermudian, Heidi Stirling-Aguiar, to the post of catering manager.“It’s Bermudians who give visitors a welcoming and authentic experience different from any other destination, which is why we are committed to hiring the people of our Island to fill the breadth of career opportunities available at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess,” said Kellianne Smith, director of human resources.“We are proud to announce the appointment of two Bermudians and we wish them well in their careers with us.”As the new catering sales manager at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, Ms Stirling-Aguiar will be applying her more than 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry to help guests plan memorable weddings, business and social events, a statement from the resort said.She began her career in 1990 as a front desk and reservation agent at the Marriott Castle Harbour before working her way up to positions such as accounts clerk and group coordinator.In 1992, she joined Elbow Beach Hotel as credit manager. She returned to Elbow Beach Hotel in 1998 as group coordinator in the sales department for one year before taking time off to take care of her family.In her new role, Ms Stirling-Aguiar will be reporting to the director of catering.Mr Oliveira has more than 25 years of experience managing and maintaining buildings in the hospitality industry. In 1986, he started his career as an assistant chief engineer at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.From there he took on the role of director of property operations at Sonesta Beach Hotel from 1998 to 2003. His most recent role was director of engineering at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston, which he has held since 2006.As a member of the International Facility Management Association, Mr Oliveira also has a City & Guilds in Mechanical & HVAC plant operations as well as a Cleaver Brooks Certificate in Boiler Operations.
