Search still on for missing teen
Police are still searching for 15-year-old Teretha Talbot and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
Teretha was last seen on November 12 after leaving her Talbot Lane, Smith's home at 7 a.m. on her way to her father's house.
She never arrived at her father's Seagull Lane, Pembroke home and it is believed that she is staying with friends.
Teretha is about 5'2" tall, brown skinned, medium build with shoulder length hair. Anyone with information is asked to call the Juvenile Domestic Crime Unit on 299-4518.
Police would like to remind the public that anyone found harbouring a missing juvenile is committing an offence under the law and may be prosecuted.
Ferry service boost
A supplementary ferry service to Rockaway, Southampton is to be introduced over the Christmas period.
Two additional ferries will leave from the Hamilton terminal on Friday nights only at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. respectively. The additional service begins tonight.
The service is being introduced to accommodate those who live in the West End and wish to complete late night Christmas shopping.
Pools firm in the dock
A business accused of failing to pay the tax collected from bets has appeared in the Supreme Court to face charges.
Cedarberry Limited, which trades as the Fortune Corner/Littlewoods Pools, is facing six charges of breaching its duty to pay a sum over to the tax collector contrary to section 36A (2) of the Taxes Management Act 1972.
On Wednesday a board member appeared to enter a plea, however, the matter was rescheduled for January 4 for mention.
Director of Public Prosecutions Vinette Graham-Allen represented the Crown while defence lawyer Elizabeth Christopher represents the accused.
Lottery proves a draw
Around 100 people attended an information session on how to apply for the 98 cut-price Southside homes at Heritage Hall in Union Street on Wednesday night.
Vance Campbell of the Bermuda Housing Corporation, which is vetting the lottery for homes at Harbourside Village, said 480 people had applied so far but there is no maximum figure for the June 3 draw. Applications must be in by March 1.
The homes are scheduled to be ready by summer 2006. Half of the 196 homes will be sold for $199,000 while the others will be sold at nearer market price.
Cris Valdes-Dapena of the Property Group said there was still around 50 homes still unsold from the 98 market-price houses.
Both categories of property in the Bermuda Homes for People project are only available for sale to Bermudians and their spouses.
Drugs mule in court
An international drugs mule appeared in Supreme Court on Wednesday to have his next court appearance scheduled.
Jamie Edward Cox, 27, of Altenkessel, Germany, denied four charges of importation and possession of cannabis and cocaine with intent to supply on July 20, 2003. Last month he was found guilty by a Supreme Court jury of importing 66 pellets full of 150 grams of cannabis and 361 grams of cocaine with a street value of $125,750.
Cox was found not guilty of possessing the drugs with intent to supply by a 10-2 majority. On December 9 Cox will appear with his lawyer Victoria Pearman to have a trial date set.
