Home prowler pleads guilty
A Sandys man admitted to prowling at two homes in the Southampton area on the same night.
Waleed Rahman of East Shore Lane, pleaded guilty to hovering, lurking or prowling near a home on the Railway Trail and a home on Williamsville Place, Southampton on May 2 when he appeared in Magistrates' Court.
The court heard from Senior Crown counsel Paula Tyndale that after 1 a.m. on Friday, May 2, the complainant at the first house was upstairs in her bedroom when she saw Rahman outside with a black helmet walking around.
She yelled out, 'What are you doing?" and he disappeared. About ten seconds later, the complaint saw the same man walk across her driveway so she called the Police.
Later that morning, at a home on Williamsville Place, another complainant saw the 25-year-old outside of her home.
Ms Tyndale told the court the complainant heard noise outside and saw Rahman walking through her yard so she went inside to call the Police and her husband. Moments later, the defendant walked through the yard again.
On his way home, the woman's husband saw a man riding a cycle that fit the description his wife had given him and caused him to stop by the Heron Bay MarketPlace.
When Police arrived, Rahman was taken to the Somerset Police Station where he initially denied the offence but later admitted to prowling.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered social inquiry reports be prepared and bailed Rahman in the amount of $5,000 until May 30 when he will appear for sentencing.
