Bus drivers must be polite and pleasant

Bad attitude: too many bus drivers are blatantly rude

Dear Mr Editor,

I agree with the comments in a letter on October 24, signed JW, Pembroke.

It is essential that everyone who has any contact with our visitors is polite and pleasant.

This includes bus drivers, who seem to have a very strange attitude while driving the buses. My apologies to the nice, friendly bus drivers, but there are too many of them who are blatantly rude.

If someone doesn’t say “good morning”, it is not your place to correct our visitors. This has happened to me on a few occasions when I “forgot” to say the required “good morning”. I was completely ignored until I responded as required.

This is absolute nonsense and is just a putdown — not pleasantly done, I might add.

Someone in charge of the bus drivers should try to teach them how to be pleasant to our visitors, as this is part of our tourism product.

They should take a lesson from our taxi drivers, who are wonderful ambassadors for Bermuda. CAMELOT
