Man dies in Southampton Rangers shooting

A 26-year-old man has died after being shot outside Southampton Rangers Sports Club.

Another male has been injured in the incident.

The grounds have been cordoned off and police are on the scene.

Police were alerted to the violence at 10.40pm after reports of gunshots in the area.

A police spokesman said: “Police officers responded to a report of gunshots at Southampton Rangers Sports Club.

“It appears that two men were shot outside the club — one, a 26-year-old man, was taken to hospital via ambulance and later pronounced dead.

“The other male was apparently taken to hospital via taxi for treatment. His injury is not believed to be serious at this time.

“No further information regarding the deceased will be given until his next of kin has been notified.

“The scene has been cordoned off and a full investigation into this fatal shooting is under way.”
