A Bermuda technology company has come up with a way to order your restaurant meal, and pay for it in a touchless way.Data-Tech said eating out had changed and consumers are looking for a safer dining experience with less touchpoints. The Hamilton-based company is a leading provider of technology payment solutions that run restaurants. To achieve touchless ordering and paying, it leveraged the industry’s most deployed point of sale and restaurant management platform, NCR Aloha, to deliver the first chip & pin solution that allows customers to pay directly at their table. It has been launched at Harry’s Restaurant.William Cox, chief executive officer of Harry’s, said: “We have worked with Data-Tech for many years to ensure that we were at the cutting edge of technology. Certainly, Covid-19 created challenges for a touchless payment and ordering system that allowed our customers and team members the absolute safest environment that we could possibly create.”“Data-Tech and their lead installer Anthony Bennet worked tirelessly during the lockdown and through Covid-19 to have us ready for opening to allow the safest dining experience without comprising customer satisfaction.”The solution allows restaurant guests to scan a QR code at the table to access the menu, place an order and pay all from the convenience of a device, minimising contact in every possible way. John Tester, general manager of Data-Tech, said: “Adapting to the new normal has been challenging for us, most of our solutions come from the US and they have been slow to adopt the new contactless ordering and payment solutions available in most countries across Europe. NCR Aloha has now launched a new order at table app using your own phone and being able to pay at time of order, the new app can be used for sit down, kerbside or takeout, thus removing all contact points. “The NCR Aloha platform enables restaurants to accelerate digital transformation and constantly adapt to changes in the market so they can focus on what they do best, great food and customer experience.”Mr Cox added: “The incorporation of mobile pay for Harry’s has allowed greater co-ordination between the kitchen and tables for seamless ordering and superior table management, helping service run smoothly. An added bonus is the integration with OpenTable and other booking services. “We have been delighted with the ease of which we have adapted to a mobile pay solution and the support that we have continued to receive.”Data-Tech, which is a GoPoint company, is Bermuda’s only certified NCR reseller for the hospitality, retail and financial industries. It said the launch will pave the way for restaurant order and payment solutions in Bermuda, allowing greater control over the whole dining experience and limiting interactions for everyone. The company added that its solutions are purpose-built to remove the costs of printing throwaway menus and increase guest satisfaction and table turns. •To learn visit https://gopoint.bm/
