Professional hopeful Deniche’ Hill took full advantage of the opportunity to broaden his football horizons at the Liverpool International Academy in Texas.

The 11-year old Hamilton Parish midfielder thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being put through his paces by the club’s youth academy coaches and reckons he learnt vital fundamentals of the sport during the football camp.

“I learnt that the drills were for advanced players and if you were not able to catch on you would ‘miss the boat’,” Hill said. “The experience was intense because there were some very good players and everyone was on the same level.”

The youngster impressed the coaching staff so much that they have invited him back to take part in a tournament next month.

“Attending the Liverpool camp has given me the opportunity to return to Texas and represent the Liverpool team as a guest player in an August tournament,” said Hill, who is a big fan of Philippe Coutinho, Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder.

Hill has a burning desire to become a professional and is determined to see his dream of playing at that level become reality.

“I want to go Europe to become a professional football player,” he said. “I believe that continuous hard work and commitment will help me achieve my goals.”

It is not surprising that Hill possesses a great passion for football.

In fact, it could be said that the sport is a part of his DNA as his father Corey, uncle Ricky and cousin Clevon all have made their mark in the game locally.

“I’ve been told that they were good,” Hill said. “They inspire me and make me want to be better.

“I have been playing football since I was able to walk and I started playing with Hamilton Parish at four-years-old.”

•Bermuda’s under-17 girls lost their final match in the World Cup Qualifiers in the Dominican Republic.

Naquita Robinson’s side were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Haiti on Sunday night, leaving them second in their group.

Haiti, who were unbeaten, topped the group, while Curaçao finished bottom.

Cuba and Jamaica won their respective groups and will advance to the next stage in Puerto Rico in November.
