Imagine Bermuda’s ‘Happy Hour with a difference’
Imagine Bermuda will be holding a “Happy Hour with a difference” at the Bermuda College this evening to mark the eve of Nelson Mandela Day.
The event has been organised by Imagine Bermuda in conjunction with the Chewstick Foundation, the African Diaspora Heritage Trail and the college and will run from 5.30pm to 7.30pm in the student hall.
“The purpose of the event is to celebrate Mandela’s legacy with music, spoken-word and story-sharing,” said Glenn Fubler, Imagine Bermuda’s co-ordinator.
“After an artistic opening those joining us will enjoy a round-table discussion involving three Bermuda residents; Dexter Smith, Darren “Butchy B” Burchall and Tulani Bulford, that will offer nutshell accounts of their transformative life stories.
“After that phase, attendees will be open to network with residents possessing a variety of skills and experience.
This will include one-on-one and small groups, who will get the chance to interface with the likes of Anthony Joaquin, retired partner from Ernst & Young; Dr Ayesha Talbot a specialist in paediatrics and internal medicine and lawyer Wendell Hollis.”
The evening will culminate in a musical “jam session” led by Quincy Jones and involve Johnny Woolridge, Wendell “Shine” Hayward, David Skinner, Gene Steede, Jeff Marshall, Tubby Richardson and Chewstick musicians.
