Man flees scene of accident
A young man fled the scene early Saturday morning after he overturned his car on a Pembroke road.
The man, who is 20 years old, apparently lost control of the car and hit a curb causing it to overturn at 4 a.m. on Saturday.
The car ended up in the eastbound land of St. John?s Road. The Pembroke man had fled the scene by the time Police arrived.
However, after searching the nearby area, Police located the man. He was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and treated for a fractured arm and facial injuries. The car was impounded and Police are investigating the incident. The man is in stable condition in KEMH.
Thief steals from church on Easter
An unknown thief stole money from a church early Easter morning. Police arrived at St. Joseph?s Church on Somerset Road at 5:40 a.m. They were told that someone had broken in and stolen $84 from the church donation box.
Teens attack janitor
A group of youths attacked a janitor on Wednesday evening.
The 48-year-old Devonshire man was attacked at Sommersfield Academy on Middle Road in Devonshire. They attackers, ranging in age from 14 to 17, also had a pit bull terrier with them at the time of the attack.
The incident took place at approximately 8 p.m. The Mariners rugby team was practising on the school field at the time of the attack and many of the players rushed to the janitor?s aide.
The suspects ran off before Police arrived. The group included black and white young men, but no other descriptions were provided.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the young men running away, to call Sgt. Stephen Gunn on 299-4516 or 515-0095.
Money stolen from day care centre
Tree Tops School II was also broken into on Tuesday night.
The unknown culprit stole $300 from the school, Police are investigating the incident.
