Revs rocked by last-gasp goal

Khano Smith?s New England Revolution suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 defeat in their CONCACAF Champions Cup second leg match against LD Alajuelense on Wednesday, courtesy of a goal conceded in the very last minute of the game.

The gangling Bermudian international is still weeks away from regaining full fitness as he recovers from a knee operation.

But he watched from the stands as his side battled it out in another tight encounter which more than resembled the first leg goalless stalemate in Bermuda on February 17.

Neither side succeeded in breaking the deadlock until almost the last kick of the game, when a spectacular 25-yard free kick from Carlos Hernandez plunged a dagger into the hearts of the MLS outfit.

LD Alajuelense now move forward to the competition?s semi-finals where they will play Mexico?s Club America.

The Revs start their domestic season on April 30, at home to the Chicago Fire.
