Former Bermuda judge Georges dies

Ephraim Georges, a judge from Dominica who served in Bermuda from 1984 to 1988, has died at the age of 82.

Mr Georges was the brother of former Bermuda Court of Appeals president Telford Georges, who died in Barbados in 2005.

He was Called to the Bar in England in 1965 and returned home in 1971 to become Registrar for the Courts in Dominica.

Mr Georges was appointed a magistrate in 1974 and became chief magistrate of Dominica, before he took a post in Barbados.

He was appointed First Registrar of Titles in Barbados in 1981.

His service in Bermuda included several months in 1987 as an Acting Justice on the Supreme Court.

Mr Georges held a variety of judicial positions in the Caribbean region after his term in Bermuda.
