The Bermuda Under-14s came from behind to claim a rare 40-5 win over Yardley Court School at the National Sports Centre, North Field.

Fresh off a successful Digicel Middle School League season, Bermuda went into the game in confident mood against an English side that have enjoyed plenty of success against Bermuda teams in the past.

Yardley did little in the opening exchanges to suggest that their winning record was in danger, and scored first when a number of phases brought the ball out wide and Yardley crossed in the corner.

It was the last time the visiting team scored all afternoon, and a mistake soon after deep inside the Bermuda half turned the tide.

With the tryline again at their mercy, Yardley dropped the ball and Jaden Talbot scooped it up before sprinting the length of the field to draw the teams level. Bermuda kicked into gear after that and Talbot crossed again, as did Cameron De Ste Croix and Jalun Hassell to give the home side a healthy lead at half time in Sunday’s game.

Yardley came out fighting in the second half and only Bermuda’s staunch defence, marshalled ably by Connor Somerville, Jacob Robb and Charlis Simmons kept them at bay.

Having weathered the storm, Bermuda extended their lead with Yizaryah Williams, Paulo Sousa, Xa-naje Cyrus, and Henri Durousseau driving them forward.
