Currently located in the warehouse space behind Four Star Pizza in Flatt’s, Undercover Tent Rentals (UTR) is a growing business that provides tents for all occasions.

“When I started the company six years ago, I was working as club manager at the Mid-Ocean Club and renting equipment from other companies,” recalls Mr. Bell. “I just thought that I could improve upon it.”

Mr. Bell rented tents and other products part-time while still at Mid-Ocean Club, but as the demand grew, he left there to go into the rental business full-time.

“And here we are today,” muses Mr. Morbey.

While the company’s local competitors offer some of the same products as UTR, the friendly owners and their staff of four pride themselves on going that extra mile.

“During the winter months when we aren’t as busy we clean every single canvas, table and chair that we have,” Mr. Morbey explains. “It takes almost three months to clean it all.

“That’s probably why we have so much business,” adds Mr. Bell. “Because we offer clean products, and we’re reliable and efficient.”

“Or so we’ve been told,” jokes Mr. Morbey.

“We will also install the tent and then take it away for no extra charge. It’s all included in the price.”

The six-year-old company provided tents for many major functions Island wide last year, including the Rugby Classic and the XL tennis tournament. They will also be supplying tents for the upcoming Cricket Classic.

“As far as tenting goes, we probably cover about 75 to 80 percent of the events on the Island,” notes Mr. Bell, as he adds that they handle a bulk of the hotel and catering company functions.

The largest tent they have on hand is a 60 foot by 170 foot tent that can comfortably accommodate up to 1,000 people.

“Generally, people will call us and ask for our recommendations. If it is a wedding or a private function we will go to the area and see what the best fit would be for you and then recommend the best tent,” explains Mr. Bell.

The most popular tent today, Mr. Bell says, is the hexagon tent because of its unique shape.

“You can also use that tent to add on other tents. You can make them as big as you’d like.”

As their business steadily expands, UTR has outgrown their current space and will soon be relocating to Industrial Park Road in Southampton.
