Judge clears two men of theft, assault charges

Two men accused of robbery and assault have had the charges against them dismissed.

Zion Smith-Codrington, 18, and Ajahni Bascome-Lema, 19, were both accused of taking a motorcycle without the owner’s consent, assaulting a man with intent to rob and participating in a public fight on March 14.

However, Puisne Judge Alan Richards dismissed the cases against the two men when they appeared in the Supreme Court yesterday.

He also dismissed the charges against Zanii Williams-Davis, 18, of assaulting Rob Joyiens with intent to rob and participating in a public fight.

Mr Williams-Davis will still face a charge of taking a motorcycle without the owner’s consent, which resulted in a crash.

Mr Justice Richards adjourned the case until December 11 and extended Mr Williams-Davis’s bail.

He also reduced the bail from $20,000 to $10,000, but kept his curfew in place and ordered him to report to the Hamilton Police Station once a week.
