Argus Walk sets fundraising record

The charity event Argus Walks the Walk broke its own record on February 22 by raising almost $35,000 for 125 local charities.

Both figures were a landmark for the event, undertaken in tandem with The Centre on Philanthropy, in which 1,094 people took part.

It was the sixth annual walk, with the most support going to non-profit organisations SCARS, Bermuda Gymnastics Association, Bermuda Volleyball Association, Answering the Cry of the Poor, The Chewstick Foundation, Bermuda Zoological Society, The Scout Association, CedarBridge Academy PTSA, PALS and Bermuda Sharks Swim Club.

The biggest corporate, youth and non-profit teams were ACE Group, CedarBridge Band-a-maniacs and Bermuda Gymnastics Association. Teams with the best cheer, best coordinated outfits and the best choreography were a tie between Chewstick and North Village Community Club, SCARS and BEPRO, respectively.

Deputy Governor Ginny Ferson, Senator Lynne Woolridge and Bruce Barritt judged the Most Spirit competition.
